The 2016 Kansas Health Foundation Symposium was an opportunity to host nationally-known speakers and Kansas-based panelists for discussions on the future of health in our state, and also for KHF to describe its areas of focus (health equity and civic health) for the years to come.
One historical event demonstrating both the struggle for health equity and the need for civic health is the 1958 Dockum sit-in. To commemorate this event, KHF president and CEO Steve Coen announced a grant the Kansas African-American Museum for a permanent exhibit honoring this show of action and courage.
