WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Health Foundation has hired Jen Rutledge as its first Southeast Kansas Regional Manager. The position is part of the Regional Presence Initiative, a new era for KHF and a long-term effort to deepen the Foundation’s relationships with communities across the state. Rutledge is one of three Regional Managers joining KHF this fall.

“Having KHF staff living and working in the regions they serve changes what’s possible for the health of our state,” said Drew Wilburne, KHF Associate Vice President. “Southeast Kansas is a region with unique needs and culture, and we want to honor that by having someone like Jen serving those communities.”

Rutledge joins KHF from the private sector, where she held various management and business roles for multiple companies. She also has experience from serving as interim executive director of the Community Foundation for Independence.

“During my time in Southeast Kansas, I have found that I am passionate about supporting efforts that strengthen communities and create meaningful, lasting impact,” Rutledge said. “The Kansas Health Foundation is doing just that, and I am excited for the opportunity to join the Foundation in its commitment to improving the health and well-being of Kansas communities. I look forward to collaborating with leaders and residents across Southeast Kansas and using those relationships to deepen the Foundation’s connection to the region, so that we can work together to promote a healthier Kansas.”

Rutledge has been active in the Independence community for nearly two decades, including serving on the school board for USD 446. She has also participated as a board member for Independence Main Street and Leadership Independence.

“As we looked at Jen’s career, experiences and relationships, it became clear she had the right mindset to take on this new position,” Wilburne said. “She brings a spirit of community involvement, a heart for listening and a desire to see the communities of Southeast Kansas thrive.”

A graduate of Washburn University, Rutledge has a degree in business administration and accounting.

“Throughout my time working in my local community, I have been impressed by the creativity and innovation people bring to the table,” Rutledge said. “I look forward to seeing that same energy and momentum across Southeast Kansas, and to what we can accomplish together. I have always wanted to leave my community better because I was part of it, and I welcome the chance to bring that same commitment to the whole region.”
