The Kansas Health Foundation has a bold vision to make Kansas the healthiest state in the nation.
WICHITA, KAN. — The Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) made a $50,000 contribution to the Emporia Community Foundation to help provide aid to the victims affected by the Eureka tornado July 7.
The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Department reported many areas received tornado damage, including the nursing home, many residences, and businesses.
“When our fellow Kansans are in need, we want to step up and help any way we can,” said Steve Coen, Kansas Health Foundation president and CEO. “This was a significant event for the Eureka community, and many lives were affected by this storm. By providing this contribution, we hope to help the individuals and families move forward.”
The Emporia Community Foundation established the “Eureka Tornado Relief” fund to benefit those in Eureka affected by the tornado. Information about how to contribute is available on the Emporia Community Foundation website, www.emporiacf.org.
KHF has worked to help strengthen Kansas communities as part of its mission, and has made similar contributions to help families and communities affected by disasters. Since 1991, the Foundation has made tornado contributions totaling more than $900,000.
