WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Health Foundation is pleased to announce Alejo Cabral has been hired as Director of Philanthropic Partnerships.
In this role, Cabral will be responsible for building relationships across the philanthropic and private sectors. He will also manage KHF’s portfolio of impact investments and develop the processes and plans necessary to align additional resources with KHF’s key activities. Cabral will be the first to hold this new position at KHF.
“Any time you create a new position and craft the job description, you always wonder how you’re going to find just the right person for the job,” said Stephen Webster, KHF Chief Financial Officer. “We believe Alejo has the perfect combination of professional background, relationship-building skills and high-energy personality to thrive in this position. KHF is fortunate to have him join our team.”
Cabral comes to KHF following a diverse career in banking, community engagement and nonprofit work.
He spent nearly five years working at the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce as Director of W (A Community of Young Professionals) and Talent, during which time he launched Campus Wichita and Mission Wichita and helped grow the Talent department budget by more than 60 percent.
Most recently, Cabral served as a Program Director for the Create Campaign. While with the organization, he led the Spark Community Business Academy, an impact investment-backed initiative designed to increase the revenues of participating businesses by 100 percent within 24 months.
“It is a privilege to join an institution like the Kansas Health Foundation that is led by visionary leaders like Ed and Stephen,” Cabral said. “Joining this team and taking on the challenge of transforming Kansas into the healthiest state in the nation is something I relish. I look forward to the challenge and to working alongside the amazing people at KHF.”
Cabral is a graduate of Wichita State University’s Barton School of Business, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialty in marketing and management. During his time in Wichita, he has been active in the community and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Wichita Art Museum and the Board of Park Commissioners for the City of Wichita.
“If our organization is going to reach its goal of empowering Kansas to lead the nation in health, we must be a team filled with people who care deeply about our state and our communities,” said Ed O’Malley, KHF President and CEO. “Alejo has for years demonstrated his love of community engagement, process-driven solutions and building relationships with people from all backgrounds and abilities. He is the right person at the right time to join the KHF team in this newly created role.”
