A Changing Kansas: Implications for Health and Communities

The population of Kansas is growing more slowly than the population of the U.S. as a whole, and it is
aging, becoming increasingly diverse and concentrating in urban areas. Between 1960 and 2016, the
population of the state increased by 33.4 percent, an addition of more than 728,000 Kansans. By
contrast, the U.S. population increased by 80.2 percent over the same period.
