Due to the efforts of a coalition featuring government, private sector and nonprofit partners a full $3.5 million has been secured for the Wichita community impacted by groundwater contamination, with a particular focus on the neighborhoods near 29th and Grove.
WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Health Foundation is pleased to announce the first group of organizations to receive funding through the Building Power and Equity Partnership (BPEP) program, which is a new KHF initiative in 2022. To this point, 11 organizations have been provided grants, totaling $825,000.
Through the BPEP program, the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) seeks to advance racial and health equity and build power in underserved communities. The program is targeted for resource-challenged, relatively small or new organizations that need financial and technical assistance to develop and operate their community-based charitable programs.
During 2022, KHF has allocated a total of $3 million for the BPEP funding program. Funding will be awarded to organizations best positioned to impact the health disparities seen across the communities of Kansas, including disparities along the lines of zip code, race/ethnicity, income and education.
