Wish Well – Upward Mobility

Overview

We want to hear from you!  TheKansas Health Foundationis seeking innovative ideas to improve Upward Mobility.

Picture someone you know who is currently struggling to make ends meet. Now imagine their life five years from now if their financial situation had improved. What would be different? Think about what would help a person achieve their goals and build a better life.

A lot of things stand in the way of a better life. Kansans told us:

  • “We were fine until the medical crisis.  Then everything fell apart.”
  • “You can’t build credit if you don’t understand what it is.”
  • “You can’t work Saturdays if there’s only one bus. And the job training center is two towns over.”
  • “It’s not just about income – it’s about reducing stress, stabilizing families, and creating dignity.”

Upward Mobility is the ability to stabilize, thrive and make choices over time, without losing connection to culture, community, or self.  We want every Kansan to have the opportunity to succeed and thrive, regardless of their starting point in life.

More Information

This is not a request for grant applications. We’re not looking for formal proposals, just ideas for what could improve upward mobility for Kansans, so we can learn and share them with others. Please reach out to Lindsay Wilke, Associate Director of Network Mobilization, at lwilke@khf.org, with any questions.
