Idea Crowdsourcing – Upward Mobility

Overview

We want to hear from you!  The Kansas Health Foundation is seeking innovative ideas to improve Upward Mobility.  We want every Kansan to have the opportunity to succeed and thrive, regardless of their starting point in life.

Moving up the economic ladder is getting harder to achieve.  According to the Gates Foundation, ninety percent of children born in 1940 earned more than their parents did, but for children born in the 1980s, that figure has dropped to just 50%.

In fact, 39% of Kansas households (approximately 456,000 households) cannot afford the basic costs of living (United for ALICE Kansas Report). These Kansans may work full-time, yet still struggle to earn enough income to get by.

A lot of things stand in the way of a better life for many Kansans — things like not having access to good jobs, safe places to live, reliable transportation, affordable child care, education and training, up-to-date technology, or even a real chance to get out of debt.  Kansas Health Foundation wants to mobilize our resources to help change this.

More Information

This is not a request for grant applications. We’re not looking for formal proposals, just ideas. We know we don’t have all the answers, and this crowdsourcing initiative allow us to hear from as many Kansans as possible.

What will KHF do with your ideas?  We commit to:

  • Use crowdsourced ideas to shape future funding opportunities
  • Seek out investment for compelling and strategic ideas
  • Share an analysis of ideas submitted with stakeholders
  • Never share your email address or personal information with any outside entity

If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Wilke, Associate Director of Network Mobilization, at lwilke@khf.org.
