Strategy #4

Overview

We consider our six key strategies to be the “how” of our work. The strategies represent both a guide for our work and our decision making.

The fourth strategy is:

  • Cultivating and refining the KHF network to be an ecosystem working to lead the nation in health.

We’re sure you’ve heard the term: “The whole is greater is the sum of the parts.” We believe making that a reality is the only way we will achieve the goals set out in our three-part purpose statement. We simply can’t do it alone.

In our work, we’re privileged to work with so many outstanding people and organizations. Part of this strategy is having great relationships with all of them. But, and perhaps more importantly, this strategy is also about those individuals and organizations working effectively with each other. That’s how we’ll truly raise the possibilities of the “whole.”

Examples

When we talk about bold steps in pursuit of leading the nation in health, that naturally takes us to the major health challenges we’re selecting and working to improve. We can’t move the needle without support and coordination from a ton of organizations. Even if we just look at our first major issue, food insecurity, it’s already taken efforts by private businesses, food banks, nonprofits, community coalitions, philanthropies, state agencies, local health departments and many more. Further cultivating this impressive ecosystem is imperative.
