WICHITA, Kan. – Sylvia Penner will be joining the Kansas Health Foundation Board of Directors July 1. Penner has been an attorney in Wichita for 15 years and joined the offices of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch LLC in 2008. She is bilingual and is known for taking great pride in representing clients from both English and Spanish speaking communities.

Penner, a lifelong Kansan, also serves on the Wichita Women Attorneys Association and the Criminal Practice, Law in Education, and Professional Diversity Committees of the Wichita Bar Association. She also sits on the boards of Kansas Appleseed, Salvation Army, and Child Start.

“We are pleased to welcome Sylvia to our board,” said Steve Coen, Kansas Health Foundation president and CEO. “She is a strong leader who brings a wealth of knowledge of Kansas and the needs of Kansans. She’ll be a great asset to the organization and our work to improve the health of all Kansans.”

After law school, Penner worked for four years as an assistant district attorney for the 18th Judicial District Court in Sedgwick County. As a prosecutor, she argued before the Kansas Court of Appeals and served as an instructor at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

“It’s an honor to be welcomed to the Kansas Health Foundation Board of Directors,” Penner said. “The foundation’s mission and work to reach diverse populations means a great deal to me. I look forward to working with foundation staff and fellow board members to advance these efforts.”
