WICHITA, Kan. – Michael Lennen, who has served for nine years, including three as chair, and Donna Shank, who has also served nine years, including a term as vice chair, have recently transitioned off the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) Board of Directors.

During their tenure, they oversaw the approval of 139 grants totaling more than $112 million.

“It’s been a privilege to have both Mike and Donna serve on our board,” said Steve Coen, KHF president and CEO. “Their vast knowledge, guidance and leadership has helped the foundation get closer to its mission of improving the health of all Kansans – and for that, we are grateful.”

In honor of Lennen and Shank’s service, the foundation is pleased to provide a $25,000 grant in each of their names.

Lennen’s contribution will be directed to the Topeka Symphony Youth Ensembles Task Force’s new initiative to provide instruments, supplies and private lessons to disadvantaged Topeka-area school students so they may participate in school orchestras and the Topeka Symphony Youth Ensembles.

Shank’s grant will be directed to the KU School of Medicine-Wichita Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences to support its “Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes” model for children experiencing mental illness.

About the Kansas Health Foundation

The Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) is a nonprofit organization based in Wichita but statewide in its focus. At KHF, all our work centers on our mission: to improve the health of all Kansans. As part of a new strategic framework, developed by our staff and board of directors, KHF also strives to accomplish three primary purposes: empower Kansas to lead the nation in health; eliminate the inequities that create health disparities; and, for KHF to become THE model for philanthropic impact.
