SoCe Neighborhood Action Foundation DBA The Neighboring Movement (TNM) is a 501c3 organization located in Wichita, Kansas. We believe that an asset-based approach to neighboring can create lasting change in the world by positively impacting the social determinants of health. We live out relationship, abundance, and joy in our founding neighborhood and share what we’ve learned in simple, doable, and universal ways with individuals, churches, and civic organizations.
The Community Animator Network (CAN) is a program where Kansans who are passionate about equity and civic engagement can come together to create positive change in communities that are typically overlooked and underrepresented. CAN members are referred to as Animators. They are paid at an hourly rate of $15-20 and work between 3-5 hours per week. CAN is organized in two phases, (1) Learning Cohorts and (2) Community Builders. Animators learn the principles of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) while engaging in mini-experiments to spark social and civic engagement. Once Animators complete the Learning Cohorts phase, they have the option to join the Community Builders where they create a community project that could last up to one year with the guidance and support from The Neighboring Movement.
